  PAR CHECK – PLANTING GUIDE  

For the tough spots, shady edges, and no-till missions. Par Check shows up and holds the line.

🌱 Planting Type:
No-till and minimum-till friendly. Perfect for tight timber plots and rough ground.

📅 Planting Dates:

  • Spring: March – early June

  • Fall (best time): August – September

🌾 Seeding Rate:

  • Broadcast: 8–10 lbs/acre

  • Frost Seeding: 6–8 lbs/acre

  • Overseed into dead vegetation or thin ground cover for best results

🌍 Soil Prep (No-Till Friendly):

  • Mow existing vegetation tight

  • Spray if needed to kill competition

  • Broadcast seed before rain or on moist soil

  • Press or roll seed in if possible (optional but helpful)

💦 Planting Depth:
1/8" to 1/4" – keep it shallow, good seed-to-soil contact is key

🌤️ Sunlight Needs:
Thrives in partial shade
Perfect for woods edges, trails, and under canopy

🚫 Fertilizer Tips:

  • Clover-friendly: use low or no nitrogen

  • Apply 200–300 lbs/acre of 0-20-20 or similar

  • Lime soil to maintain pH between 6.0–7.0


Maintenance:

  • Mow to 6–8" if weeds get tall

  • Overseed every couple of years for thick regrowth

  • Keep it cool, let it regrow—this mix is built to last
